GEG Donates MOP300,000 to Macau Holy House of Mercy and Distributes Food Hampers to Underprivileged Families

Jun 7, 2016 – In its ongoing support for charitable associations, Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) has donated MOP300,000 to the Macau Holy House of Mercy (“SCMM”) and sent a team of volunteers to assist SCMM in distributing food hampers to underprivileged families for the fourth consecutive year.

Recently, GEG executives, Mr. Philip Cheng, Director and Ms. Catherine Iu, Assistant Vice President of Corporate and Community Relations of Public Relations, together with GEG volunteers, visited SCMM’s Rehabilitation Centre for the Blind where they were warmly received by Mr. António José de Freitas, President of SCMM. Mr. Cheng presented the donation cheque from GEG to Mr. António José de Freitas in witness of Ms. Ng Sio Lai, President of the General Union of the Neighborhood Associations of Macau and Ms. Wong Kuai Leng, Vice-President of Macau Federation of Trade Unions.

Around twenty GEG volunteers packed rice, cooking oil, canned food and other commodities and household items into food hampers and distributed the hampers to more than 300 underprivileged families. The beneficial families greatly appreciated GEG for their continuous support of the food hamper distribution project. Ms. Yama Chan from food and beverage department of Galaxy Macau™ stated that it was worthwhile to participate in this activity because it gave her the opportunity to show love and care to low-income families and that she intended to regularly join the charitable activities organized by GEG.

Every year since the establishment of the SCMM Welfare Shop in 2013, GEG has given financial and volunteer support. In recognizing its corporate social responsibility and as a way of giving back to society, GEG plans to continue to organize volunteering activities to benefit different sectors of the community.
